LaMelo Ball's name has already been on the league's fine list. His reputation is further enhanced by this most recent instance. Nevertheless, Thursday's penalty is only his second in his career. He has been the main point of the Hornets since joining the league at the age of 19 in 2020.

In 231 games, he has averaged 21.0 points, 7.4 assists, and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 36% from beyond the arc. Following Thursday's news, video of the event has surfaced and went viral on social media.

It is the second-highest fine that Ball has ever been hit with in the NBA. He received a $100,000 fine in 2024 for using "offensive and derogatory" comments. According to Spotrac, Ball has already paid $173,000 in fines over his NBA career.

LaMelo Ball’s soaring form and fiery past has collided
LaMelo Ball received his first warning from the league in 2021 for breaking the anti-flopping rule. The message was clear, yet there was no fine. However, he went too far last season. Ball used "offensive and derogatory" language on live television following a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, resulting in his first official reprimand and a reputation for unfiltered honesty.
