NEW DELHI: An encounter broke out between the terrorists and Jammu & Kashmir police team on Tuesday in Rajouri district, a senior police officer said.
"Exchange of fire took place between terrorists and the SOG (Special Operations Group) team in Beeranthub area, Police Station Kandi, Rajouri. Joint parties of the Police, Army and CRPF have rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area," Inspector General of Police, Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti said.
The firing occurred as the local police SOG carried out a search operation based on information about the movements of suspected individuals, officials said.
Officials said that security forces also conducted a cordon and search operation this evening in the Dharni Top area of Basantgarh, Udhampur district, following reports from locals about the movement of three suspected terrorists.
