Tottenham have reportedly lined up another summer transfer having already signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. The former PSG man has joined the north Londoners in a deal worth around £51million. Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, who looks certain to leave the Etihad Stadium ahead of Monday's deadline.
The two clubs have already discussed the conditions of a deal but no agreement has been struck as of yet. It has been reported that Tottenham would need to pay around £15m to bring Akanji to north London. Another exciting transfer could also be on the horizon, with Spurs thought to be keeping close tabs on a former Chelsea player.
They are interested in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher before the window closes, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. It is said that Tottenham have been 'stalking' the England international with a view to doing a deal.
However, the report adds that Atletico are reluctant to let him leave with so little time remaining in the window. It would take an offer between £43m and £50m to prise Gallagher away from the Spanish capital in the coming days.
Atletico reportedly paid around £33m to sign the 25-year-old from Chelsea last summer. He made 32 league appearances in the previous campaign, chipping in with three goals, and has played in both of their opening fixtures this season.
Gallagher has also been linked with a move to West Ham, while Crystal Palace were credited with a desire to sign him earlier in the window.
Diego Simeone seems to be pleased with the way Gallagher has adapted to Spanish football, lauding his transition towards the end of last season.
"When we think of him we think of his youth, energy and intensity in the game, he also strikes the ball very well," said the Atletico boss.
"It's never easy for players coming from England to adapt to the Spanish championship, to the language. He has competed very well in different places and in positions where he doesn't feel more comfortable.
"He will evolve, he has room for growth. He is very intense in offensive and defensive play, he brings a lot to us."
Gallagher would become Tottenham's eighth or ninth signing of the window, depending on whether Akanji joins the club as well.
Before welcoming Simons, they signed Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, Luka Vuksovic and Kota Tatai on permanent deals. Joao Palhinha has also joined Tottenham on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season.
