Sky News fans have uncovered Angela Rayner's "cold" reaction to Rachel Reeves crying in the Houses of Parliament before the Deputy Prime Minister sobbed during an interview on the channel last night when grilled about underpaying her stamp duty. During the interview on Sky News, Rayner claimed her Hove home was her primary residence after placing her Ashton-under-Lyme home in trust for her disabled son.
Her tax admission has been hitting the headlines this week, and earlier today, a user took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to remind viewers how "coldly" Rayner reacted when Reeves was crying during Prime Minister's Questions in Parliament in recent months as Keir Starmer was speaking in the Commons.
Sharing a clip from Sky News where the Chancellor was looking visibly upset during Prime Minister's Questions, they wrote: "Rachel Reeves in tears and Angela Rayner just sits there like the cold tin of baked beans she is."
Rayner was sitting just a few seats away from an upset Reeves, yet did not appear to engage with her or react with warmth during the session in Parliament. Instead, Rayner looked directly forward at Starmer and listened to him make various points to MPs.
Taking to the comment section, one person wrote, "The vile left is finally exposed." A second remarked, "What boss in their right mind, seeing how awful she looked before PMQ started, would put her through being on public display when she was obviously distressed? That says a lot about Starmer. He's ready to chuck her under the bus to save his own skin, I think!"
Someone else wrote: "She was smirking, knowing she's going to run for PM. Starmer's finished."
Another said: "With a smirk on her miserable face. What a truly horrible, unkind front bench they are."
However, a fifth remarked: "What do you expect her to do? Put an arm around her, which could make her even more emotional or embarrassed."
Another replied: "Do you expect her to draw attention to Reeves by giving her a hug?"
