'My next door neighbour parks in front of my driveway - I'm furious'

A frustrated motorist has called out her nuisance neighbour for parking in front of her driveway. TikTok user @nicolethisisme revealed her next door neighbour was always parking on the street close to her house despite having his own drive with space for "two cars".

However, on occasion, Nicole's neighbour has stopped their vehicle directly in front of their house, preventing access to their driveway. The social media user shared her story on her successful TikTok page where Nicole posts regular updates about her life.

Speaking on TikTok, Nicole said: "My next door neighbour has a driveway that's big enough for two cars, My driveway is only big enough for one car... My next door neighbour has never put his car on his driveway once in the three years I've lived here. He's got a driveway big enough for two cars. I've never seen his car in there."

According to Nicole, usually the neighbour parks his bonnet in line with the edge of the driveway. Nicole admits she hasn't addressed the issue before for the sake of a peaceful existence with her neighbours. However, Nicole admitted she had been left furious as the issue escalated one evening during a heavy downpour.

Nicole remarked: "A taxi was parked on the opposite side so we couldn't park in it, so instead of parking on his driveway, he parked directly outside my house.

"So I had to like squeeze my car through a tiny gap to go all the way down the bottom of the road to try and find a space and it was pouring with rain. I don't understand it."

Parking over dropped kerbs is against the rules and councils can issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) for those breaching the rules. However, the council won't be able to physically move the vehicle unless it's been abandoned or is not taxed.

Nicole added: "When it's pouring with rain, where's your human decency, my human decency is that I've let you get on with it, I don't want to cause an atmosphere so I've never knocked and said anything, even in times when it's been awkward... does anyone else have a neighbour like this."

She added: "Last night I could have knocked, i was fuming, trying to get my car through the tiny little gap. I don't get human behaviour sometimes."

Many angry road users took to TikTok to share their own experiences of problem neighbours causing major parking problems.

@mrsgroves18 said: "My neighbour does this to stop anyone parking in front of his house. I think it's an old person's thing."

@aubreyt90 explained: "Should've put it on his drive and wait for him to knock on your door asking why you've parked there."

@markfleming26 posted: "My neighbour parks his car half over my back gates. Big sign on my gates says 'Polite notice please do not park over gates'. Some people!!!"
