Jon Rahm was left furious after a fan appeared to whistle during his back swing at the Open Championship. The Spaniard was one under par as he drove off at the par-four 11th, but failed to find the fairway.
As soon as he was through his swing, the Spaniard turned angrily to the crowd. With both arms outstretched, he then shouted: "Really? Whistling? Great timing. Right in my backswing. Very smart...whoever it was."
The exact perpetrator wasn't clear. A number of fans were stood by the tee with umbrellas as the rain teemed down, with Rahm appearing to direct his anger towards a group rather than an individual.
More frustration was to come for the 30-year-old when he proceeded to take a bogey five, leaving him four off the lead. Rahm arrived in Northern Ireland still looking for his first Open title, having been tied for second in 2023.
His temper has been in the spotlight before, earning him the nickname the 'Raging Bull'. Critics have also cited his temperament as hampering him during the finale of major tournaments, with the LIV star in contention at the US PGA on the final day this year before an erratic finish left him tied for eighth.
Rahm was in the first of the big-name groups to go out this morning, paired with reigning champion Xander Schauffele and US Open winner JJ Spaun. The trio had some pleasant conditions over their opening holes, but the weather has since deteriorated, with the late starters in line for a difficult afternoon.
Danish player Jacob Skov Olesen and Chinese golfer Li Haotong both currently holding the clubhouse lead after shooting four-under par rounds of 67. Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick is one off the pace with three holes of his round to play.
Veteran Lee Westwood also benefited from an early start, safely entering the clubhouse at two under par. Home hero Rory McIlroy tees off at 3.10pm, alongside Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Thomas.
