Home cooks have been raving over one strange cooking method that makes bacon "perfect" and "crispy" every single time. The simple method doesn't require any oil or butter, but it makes bacon the perfect balance of crunchy and chewy, according to fans of viral TikToker
Even though it seems unconventional, he swears by using water to make the "perfect crispy bacon every single time". The cook explained that it works "so well" because water keeps the initial cooking temperatures low and gentle, so the meat retains its moisture while the fat renders.
"The traditional way doesn't allow the fat to render properly which is why it can be a bit chewy. By the time the water has reached its boiling point, the bacon fat has fully rendered and gives it a beautiful crisp rather than burning," he said.
One viewer called him a "legend", adding: "I'm addicted my wife has been cooking bacon like this and I can't get over the taste and texture!"
Another added: "I love this method. I'm not a fully crispy bacon guy. I like a 50/50 ratio of chew and crisp. This is the best way to achieve that texture."
He isn't the only one. Cook Donna Urso also shared the tip on her viral blog, writing: "This method is quick, and easy, and produces perfectly cooked bacon every time."
She explained the water helps to keep the bacon from burning and creates a "consistent, crispy texture".

Donna noted it is speedier than traditional grilling."This method takes only 10-12 minutes from start to finish," she said, writing for Just One Donna.
To follow Tiktok's method, place bacon in a large cold pan on the hob and heat it until it becomes more opaque. Then, add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Cook until the water has evaporated and you reach your desired crispiness.
