In a shocking case from Muradnagar, a young woman has accused her husband of pushing her into an extreme lifestyle to match the looks of Bollywood star Nora Fatehi. The 26-year-old, who married in March this year, approached the women’s police station this week alleging that her husband, a 28-year-old physical education teacher from Meerut, forced her into punishing gym sessions, deprived her of food, and subjected her to relentless body shaming.
According to her complaint, her husband was “obsessed” with Nora Fatehi and insisted she should look like the actress. To achieve this, he allegedly pressured her into spending three hours daily at the gym. On days she refused, she claimed he stopped her from eating to ensure she did not gain weight.
The woman told police that her husband constantly taunted her about her appearance and even said his life was ruined because he could have married someone who looked like Fatehi. Despite her family spending nearly ₹75 lakh on the wedding — which included gifting him a Mahindra Scorpio, jewellery, and cash — she alleged her in-laws continued to harass her for more dowry.
The situation worsened when she discovered she was pregnant earlier this year. The woman alleged that her husband secretly gave her a pill, which she later learned was used for abortions. Her health deteriorated, and after being sent back to her parents’ home by her in-laws, she was admitted to a hospital where doctors confirmed a miscarriage.
She also claimed that in late July, her in-laws barred her from entering the marital home. Left with no choice, she finally turned to the police.
DCP Dhawal Jaiswal confirmed that an FIR has been registered against the husband and his parents under sections related to dowry harassment, intentional humiliation, and forced abortion under BNS. He added that the investigation is in progress and all allegations are being verified.
