Techie goes from Rs 2.2 LPA to Rs 32 LPA in 7 years. But now seeks career help

The post appeared on the subreddit Developer’s India and offered a timeline of his journey. Beginning in 2019, he joined a private firm as a developer with a starting package of Rs 2.2 LPA. The organization, which had 80 staff members at that time, has since grown tenfold. He remained with them for nearly one and a half years.

Shifting to Global Assignments

Afterward, he secured his first international project as a backend Python developer, working at $6.5 per hour. Within two months, he transitioned to a senior developer role, earning $10 per hour, and maintained this engagement for almost three years. Over time, his pay rose to $12 per hour. However, the arrangement ended when the client decided to build an internal team.

Moving to a Manufacturing Firm

Soon after, he signed a contract with a Delhi-based manufacturing company to tailor the Odoo framework to their operational needs, with an initial offer of ₹18.6 LPA for three months. As the scope of work expanded, the contract continued, and he hired and mentored two freshers to manage the workload. Later, the team grew further by adding two more recruits to handle rising demand.

Rising as a Team Lead

By March 2024, another company offered him a lucrative ₹30 LPA package. His current employer matched this amount and promoted him to the position of Technical Team Lead. Presently, the company is shifting its ERP system to SAP, which will eventually render his position unnecessary once the new system becomes operational.

Searching for the Next Step

At this stage, he is seeking opportunities in the market for roles such as senior developer or team lead. Despite applying consistently for the last month, he has only received one interview call. Currently, his total professional experience stands at nearly seven years, with a CTC of ₹32.4 LPA.
